Introducing new leaders at the Malvern College family of schools

11 October 2021
Eamonn Mullally and Iain Ruck

As a family of schools Malvern College International is very proud of the exceptional talent we attract for posts at all levels, not least so for Heads of Schools; this year we are delighted to welcome Mr Iain Ruck to the Malvern Family as Head of Malvern College Qingdao.

Colleagues in Qingdao are excited to welcome Mr Iain Ruck as their new Headmaster. Iain takes up post as Malvern College Qingdao enters an exciting phase of its development, with preparations already underway to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the school, which was founded in 2012 and now hosts nearly 1000 students in its boarding school environment, in the shadow of the Laoshan Mountains in China’s Shandong province.

Iain comments: “It is an honour to work for a family of schools that truly values the holistic development of their pupils and places pupil well-being at the forefront. This is of real importance to me and something I am looking forward to supporting at MCQ, alongside the already outstanding academic and co-curricular programme.”

Despite the current travel restrictions, Mr Ruck is no stranger to China as he previously worked at The British School of Guangzhou, where he held various leadership positions, including  Head of School, during his eight year tenure. Mr Ruck credits his time in Guangzhou for his love of China, which was the motivation for applying for his new post.

Iain will be joined in China by his wife Louise, where they both hope to be able to continue exploring the country, as well as enjoying the culture and warmth of the people.
