Malvern College Chengdu

Malvern College’s second international campus, Malvern College Chengdu, opened in September 2015. Located on a hillside above Chengdu, in China's Sichuan Province. In September 2019, the school relocated to a purpose built campus in Xinjin County, to the south of Chengdu. Offering both day and boarding options, the campus is a blend of British architectural features and modern design concepts and includes a heated swimming pool, a multi-purpose indoor sports hall and a theatre.

Malvern College Chengdu is an international secondary school for Chinese nationals operated in partnership with Malvern College UK and licensed by the Chinese authorities.

The school currently has around 350 pupils across primary and secondary and will grow steadily towards an ultimate capacity of around 2000 once the new campus is fully operational. The school offers both day and boarding options.

Malvern College Chengdu provides a bespoke bilingual curriculum for pupils from Nursery to Year 6, encompassing both the compulsory Chinese National Curriculum as well as key elements of the English National Curriculum. Pupils then transition to the IGCSE and A level programmes once they reach the secondary school.

Subjects currently offered for external examinations include Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Business Studies, Economics, Accounts, and Chinese. English as a Second Language is taken at IGCSE and students receive thorough preparation for IELTS/TOEFL exams. All students have regular Physical Education sessions. Students in the Foundation years (Lower 4, Middle 4 and Upper 4) study a wider range of subjects including Humanities.

Students have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of co-curricular activities such as sport, music, drama, art, debating and The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, and are supported through Leadership and Study Skills programmes.

The day to day operations of both the primary and secondary sections are led their respective academic Heads, supported by a Chinese counterpart. The management of the school is overseen by Babylon Education, the College’s Asia Pacific partners, working closely with the Malvern College International team based in the UK.
